Bug-a-bugs Attack Computer

Yes, officer, it’s true. Them dang bug-a-bugs got to my hard drive and ate all my personal files.

Bug-a-bugs is Liberian English for termites. The African termite must be the bug of all bugs. I never heard of them attacking hard drives though. Whatever got into my hard drive was the top-of-the-line bug.

When I left for the gym Thursday morning about 9:45 my computer was running fine. When I returned two hours later it was dead in the water. There was evidence that we had had a power surge, but the computer tech at Best Buy said that could not have done this kind of damage. It had to be a virus. They were going to check it for viruses. This is Sunday, I haven’t heard from them yet. Could it be that the bug-a-bugs escaped and attacked the whole store? I can see the headline now: New African Virus Decimates Local Computer Store. Local Best Buy manager, I.M. Wondering said, “This new African Bug-a-bug virus, named after a termite, completely destroyed our entire inventory of PCs. However, they didn’t even touch the Macs. Right now they are in the wireless section. We have no idea how they got in our store, nor do we know how to get rid of them. Someone said we might have to import the Liberian Soldier ant, the natural enemy of the bug-a-bug.”

All my research for the past three years, all my school papers, family pictures, my list of books I had started, thousands of hours of work: gone. Forgive me if you detect a bit of, well, anger in my words. But you know what, I’m not surprised. This is a good example of spiritual warfare. Satan does not want me to finish this book. But it will take more than that to stop me. Luckily I had some of the work backed up. A lot of it I had already written in some form or another. But not all of the research was backed up. God let it happen, so He knows what’s important to keep. As time goes on and I find newer material I see that a lot of what I already had is outdated anyway. So I just need to keep working.

Pray for me, for guidance, wisdom and strength to carry on. And, if you come across anything interesting stories, books, articles, anything that addresses sin and evil, send the info my way. This is where I’m working now. I’m learning something interesting stuff that I have never heard before. But then I’ve lived a pretty sheltered Southern Baptist life. You know, just with the information you can find out there now, you could proved just about anything....because there are so many different opinions. About everything. Especially religion.

But soon all that information will just pass away. As we go through the fires of testing, that stuff will separate from us, like the dross is left floating atop the pot of pure gold. Soap and water will not cleanse our imperfections away, we must go through the fire to become pure again. The time is near, so continue to pray for workers to enter the field and for the harvest that follows.
